Time to start over:

I'm moving in with my partner and have decided it is time for a fresh start.

I had previously set up my aquarium with all natural garden soil and planted it. I added a second florescent light fixture and worked on a couple DIY CO2 solutions. At first the tank turned out awesome. The plants grew in really well. The fish appeared to be happy once I added them. and I really liked the look the tank acquired. And then I introduced Java Moss. This pesky little guy brought in an algae that I couldn't get under control. Before I knew it all my baby tears where covered, the branches I put in where covered, and the Wisteria was destroyed. I cut everything back and hoped for the best but it never returned to where it had been. So I've been limping it along, keeping the fish happy, and have helped the plants survive, knowing that soon I would be moving and it would be much easier to tear it down and start over than to try to keep the current setup and hope it survives the move.
So now it is time for the tear-down. I'm going to take the fish to a local fish store and sell them back. The plants will make their way into the greewaste bin at home, and the dirt will find a nice resting spot at my partners place to be planted in. The new location will be on his back patio. It is completely covered and only a little filtered evening sunlight will be able to make it to the tank for about 20 minutes. I plan to set it back up, pick up new plants, and re-scape the scenery. I'm curious to see how challenging it will be to keep the temperature where it needs to be but I have a feeling this is going to be a fun project.

I've decided to refresh my blog because through my searching, I haven't really found many people who are attempting to set up an aquascaped aquarium outside. I'm curious the log the adventure and see what challenges it presents.
